People with disabilities and the elderly are provided with support and emergency services that help them maintain an independent living status.
Infants, children, and young people are provided with development services so that they can make full use of their potential.
The Arkansas CAA partners with a network of community partners to provide opportunities for families to improve living conditions in low-income communities.
Energy Efficiency and Utility Assistance Programs
Utility costs for low-income households consume a significant amount of their monthly income.
The increased energy efficiency of these households not only reduces their running costs but also their energy consumption.
The Arkansas Community Action Agency provides utility assistance to low-income families through the federally funded Low-Income Families Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The funding is limited.
They provide the payment of a fixed benefit based on monthly income and household size.
Revenue guidelines are revised annually.
Generally, LIHEAP services are paid directly to utilities on behalf of the applicant.
Qualified families may receive assistance once per program.
Government policy sets the maximum amount of support available per household.
Benefits are paid directly to the utility companies.
Eligible families may receive assistance once per plan.
A copy of the closing notice is required.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
