Glades Electric Cooperative, Inc. provides limited financial assistance to low income individuals or households that are are struggling to pay their electrical bill. In order to be considered, these individuals must have exhausted all other possibilities to get funds to pay for their electrical bill. These funds are allocated by the Charitable Trust, which is made possible due to the generosity of Glades Electric Cooperative customers who contribute to the Operation Round Up Program. You need to fill out an application for funding.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year.
To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.
You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

They send letters to my mailbox of how much they’ve donated and claim to help their own when in financial distress, however, if you call the girls basically tell you pay your bill apply for liheap (no funds available) I’ve tried Salvation Army’s churches etc no one works with glades electric- you’d think they’d help their own but they don’t have any options but ask me to round up every month to help less fortunate- sad what greed is doing to our country.
