Offers emergency assistance in areas of basic needs, including financial support for housing, utilities, clothing and prescription drugs, food through dare-to-care, meals on wheels, blood pressure testing, school supplies for starting school, holiday support, and information and referral services regarding other emergency resource providers.
Area served: Residents of 40218 and 40220 in Jefferson Co, KY.
SEAM makes appointments for assistance on a daily basis and when the daily appointment is full, the phone no longer answers.
If the caller receives a busy tone, keep trying.
Meals On Wheels instructions are as follows: the SEAM works with Louisville's Metro Nutrition Program to offer a Meals On Wheels site and volunteers to provide daily lunch.
The Senior Nutrition Site offers a hot lunch 5 days a week.
Participants must be at least 60 years old to qualify.
There is no fixed amount for lunches; donations are accepted.
Reservations are needed.
Individuals must call 459-2947 before noon the day before to make a reservation.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year.
To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.
You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
