LIHEAP helps eligible low-income households meet their home heating needs; payment amounts are determined by family size, income, and type of heat used in the home and are made directly to the vendors.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

Yes we have used it before but on a few times it was days before the deposit was made and during the pandemic my water deposit was never made even though they told me that i was eligible after a few months i was told that i never applied once about a year ago i was told that they were out of funds but later the same day my neighbor called in my presence and was given 200 dollars for her electric and during the same time we were out of electricity. I'm really thankful for the help this good program has done for me and my family but at the same time i know for a fact that there's some corruption and favoritism in the system in the system but I suppose it can't be helped there's corruption and favoritism and every department Federal state local I guess that's just part of life.

The office personnel at the Jackson county office on highway 290 has always been nice to me they certainly been very nice to me
