Offers assistance and information to band members regarding winter weatherization in their homes, as well as applications for energy assistance.
Applications for energy assistance can be obtained from the CAP office.
High consumption Elderly person Disabled Families with children Members may also qualify for furnace repair or replacement through the Energy-Related Maintenance Program. The Energy Assistance Program uses the same income eligibility process to determine eligibility for the ERR program. You must meet the following qualifications to be eligible. Currently eligible for assistance under the EAP, a homeowner and live in the house in question, and You are in a life-threatening situation, you have no heat or your system is malfunctioning. Help is only available for the primary heat source. Please stop by their office or call for full details.
Documents required:
- Three months of income verification from the date of signature of the application.
- Receipts for the last fuel filling.
- Current electrical bill
To be qualified, an individual must be eligible for energy assistance.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year.
To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.
You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
