    Oklahoma LIHEAP

    You can enroll in LIHEAP at this Human Services (OKDHS) office during open enrollment.

    You can apply for LIHEAP online at: www.okdhslive.org, during open enrollment. You may be asked to provide some verification documents to determine eligibility for utility assistance.
    Open Enrollment Periods:
    Depending on receipt of federal funding the General Open Enrollment period usually begins the following months:

    Winter Heating - December
    ECAP - March (Life Threatening Medical Condition is accepted year round.)
    Summer Cooling - June


    Eligibility requirements for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) are based on income, household size, available resources and responsibility for payment of the home energy cost. Only one payment per household is allowed per program component. “Household” is defined as individuals living “under the same roof” with one utility meter. Everyone who uses the same meter or utility must apply together. If you or anyone resides in your home are a Native American, you may apply for energy assistance through OKDHS or with your tribe, but you cannot receive assistance from both during the same Federal Fiscal Year.



    The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program is called LIHEAP. They assist low income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. This program is therefore, a year long program that is available 12 months a year. To qualify for the LIHEAP assistance, you need to qualify. We provide the current Federal Poverty Rates nationwide below.

    You are automatically qualified for LIHEAP assistance if you participate in the SNAP food stamps program, TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or the SSI program through Social Security.

    *Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
    These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get legal aid from some offices, they use a sliding fee scale. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
